The purpose of the project is to remove all unused batters (any form), recycle plastics to keep the island clean and fresh. In doing so, it is anticipated that by the end of the project, citizens will start to enjoy what their fore fathers have been enjoying before, like land crabs, shell fish, fish, eatable pigeons, and fresh greens and vegetables from back yard gardens and many more.
There are empirical evidences that the plastics, empty rusty cans, poisonous used batteries and many more other pollutions are affecting the island’s environment.
This project is initiated and coordinated by SPECS, in partnership with Pacific Inspiro Limited and the Matigamal Tagaro Island Council of Chiefs. The project is expected to be completed by end of quarter 1 of 2022.
